On Thursday, January 19th, Safety Dynamics will be hosting ‘Business After Five’, one in a series of networking events hosted every month by member businesses of the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce. These events are designed to create a relaxed atmosphere in which local business owners and operators can meet, exchange information, learn about the different facets of business in our community, and create new alliances.
Businesses and individuals are invited to stop by and check out Safety Dynamics’ training facility, learn about he services they provide and network with other businesses and professionals. There will be refreshments and a draw for free training.

On Saturday, September 25th, the Home Business Show & Sale will be happening at the Moose Lodge from 10AM-4PM. There is no cost for entering and is featuring more than 25 local home businesses, including:

The show is in support of the Medicine Hat & District Food Bank with the door prize worth over $200 retail. Tickets for the door prize will be $2 each and all proceeds will go to the food bank. They will also be accepting cash and food donations at the show.

BizPaL, a new online permit and licence research service network has launched on the City of Medicine Hat website thanks to the Business Support Office and Planning, Building and Development department.
BizPaL is an innovative and interactive service that incorporates the business permit and licence process for entrepreneurs, governments, and third party business service providers. BizPaL provides business clients, especially new business startups, with the information they need to meet all permit and licence requirements quickly and efficiently. BizPaL is available on-line whenever the client needs to seek information.
“BizpaL is a terrific, easy to use on-line tool that provides entrepreneurs and business owners with the permit and licence information for Medicine Hat that they need to grow or start their business,” says Keith Crush, business development officer. “This is part of an ongoing effort to ensure our community supports and encourages business development.”
A partnership between all levels of government – federal, provincial and municipal – BizPaL provides one stop easy access to all permit and licence requirements. “It is a great tool to cut down on the research and paperwork associated with prior licence and permit requirements,” says Crush.

A recent fascination I have had is businesses for sale in Medicine Hat. I started looking into this when I saw a couple search keywords come to Medicine Hat Media for this resource; however, we don’t really have anything on it. Well… that is until this post anyways.
I took a look on the web to see if I could find a resource out there for this specific need. I found quite a few bland and “spammy” directories, but then I stumbled upon the search option on my favourite realty site, Realtor.ca, previously mentioned in this post – which actually, eventually found me my first house. It actually offers a search (which goes to a sister site, named ICX.ca) for commercial properties.
