The Village People are discoing their way to Medicine Hat to “rock” The Esplanade on October 31, 2009 at 8PM.

The 6 member disco group needs no introduction as to who they are after being around since the late 1970’s. Their costumes and culturally iconic songs are immediately recognizable to the masses, even to people who do not commonly listen to the group. People are encouraged to wear their best costume (it’s Halloween, after all) as there will be lots of pre-show hi-jinx in the lobby with local band Mahoney and local magic man, Trevor Moore.

Tickets are $39 for regular admission ($44 for balcony) and can be purchased at www.tixx.ca

The Canadian Red Cross in conjunction with the Redcliff Youth Centre will be putting on a Fun in the Sun day for Youth. It will be on Friday August 14, 2009 at 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Riverside Park (Train Park) downtown Medicine Hat.

We will be entertained by the music of Mahoney, a local Medicine Hat cover band, who will play for youth and their families, while the community enjoys a charity BBQ.

In addition, The Magic of Trevor Moore, a professional Medicine Hat magician specializing in hand and illusion tricks, will be awing the crowd with his magic tricks.

Throughout the evening, The Canadian Red Cross has organized a Banana eating Contest, Potato sack races and a poster building contest. Great prizes will be given to the winners of these challenges!

Fun in the Sun is a celebration of the youth in Medicine Hat, Redcliff, Brooks and surrounding areas.  Everybody is welcome to help honor the difference youth make in our communities.

On April 19th, the second annual “Give the Gift of Life Fun Run & Walk” will take place at the downtown YMCA. Participants are encouraged to raise funds for patients waiting for organ transplants for The Kidney Foundation of Canada Southern Alberta Branch. Last year, the first time that the event took place, they had 60 participants and raised $15,000 stated Jodi Currie, manage of communications for the foundation. This year the organization hopes to raise $20,000 and bring at least 100 participants out. The event includes a light breakfast as well as entertainment from the local band, Mahoney. The event will be a 5 km fun run, or a 2 km walk for those who attend.
