Aasman, a city Hockey veteran, lost his battle with cancer just under a year ago. As his devotion to the game, even after his passing, lived on. Aasman lived for Kids minor Hockey in the city and people are remembering him with a 4-on-4 Tournament at the Leisure Centre today. Although he didn’t play much competitive hockey growing up, he had plenty of success teaching the game. It was September 9, 2008 when he had the chance to coach for a final time in a Tigers’ pre-season matchup, when his son Ryan came home with the Prince Albert Raiders to verse our Tabbies. Just 8 days later, Ryan had to make his way home again to say good-bye to his dad for the final time.
