My wife and I purchased a 2007 Kia Rondo (a crossover vehicle) from Johnson Kia in Lethbridge, and the dealership included a Command Start in the deal. We requested a two-way Command Start so that we would know from the handheld starter if the vehicle was running or not.

Tim Rissling at J. D. Auto Electronics did a great install job, and Metro Kia service completed the part of the install which involves making the vehicle run without a key in the ignition. We don’t know the cost of the job since it was negotiated into the vehicle, but we definitely would recommend J. D. if someone is looking for a quality remote car starter.

I never realized this, but there is a huge community for buying and selling (garage sales) in Medicine Hat. Most of this community exists spread throughout several Facebook groups. Overall, it’s probably not the best system or way to do it; however, considering it’s Facebook, you’re going to get a lot of users, visitors and searches for items you are buying and selling – and most importantly, for FREE. In this post I will give a breakdown of all the Medicine Hat Buy & Sell groups available on Facebook.

I’m going to try and post all of them even if they don’t have much business going on because if anybody is trying to sell something (especially fast), it would be easier to post on every one of these groups to get maximum coverage (granted the item is compliant with the group’s rules). Sorry about the length on this one, there’s so many (redundant) groups!

GARAGE SALE MEDICINE HAT

One of the largest, if not the largest Medicine Hat based groups out there. There is over 6000 members, thousands of items, hundreds of posts. There’s a lot of business going on here. Who needs real garage sales anymore? GARAGE SALE MEDICINE HAT

ANYTHING for sale in Medicine Hat

This group is another big one with close to 1000 photos listed. Plenty of users and discussions going on. As the title suggests, anything is allowed on here. ANYTHING for sale in Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat Moms Swap/Buy

This group is for children and baby items only. It is by far one of the largest groups of this type with almost 2000 members and over 800 items listed. Medicine Hat Moms Swap/Buy

It has been a few weeks now since the new Super Walmart opened in Medicine Hat, but is it a welcome change?

As the new Super Walmart was opened, the pre-existing Walmart was closed. The new store boasts a  complete grocery section and many expanded departments such as electronics, clothing, home decor, and more. McDonalds and Tim Hortons restaurants are also included in the new Supercenter. The grand opening featured over $15,000 in donations to local charities and singing of the Canadian National Anthem before the ribbon was cut to officially open the store. One would think Walmart is a caring corporation and a welcome addition to Medicine Hat, but what do the citizens think? And how does Walmart maintain such low prices?

While overhearing many people at work discussing the new store, most people seemed to have mixed feelings about what the store had to offer, but mostly they all agreed on the same thing: that the store, overall, was a nuisance. It seems that it is too big for most people to relish shopping at (despite the new Canadian Tire and current Superstore being of a comparable size overall). The concrete floor is a main dislike for people. Lineups are another common criticism. Apparently, much of the time the Interact machines do not work, which are not depicted before entering the checkout lanes, resulting in people just leaving the groceries and the store.

The only good thing it seems is the parking issue. In the previous Walmart, to get out of the store, you would have to often times drive in front of the building doors, where many pedestrians emerged from before walking across the road to get to their vehicles. Now there is a more spacious parking lot and two entrances and exits between the main facade.

With www.walmart.com’s title saying: “Save money. Live Better” and the yellow smiley face flying around television commercials knocking prices down, one might wonder: How do they get the prices so low?
