The City of Medicine Hat and Cypress County’s Southern Alberta Summer Games Office is NOW OPEN! We are looking for athletes to compete on both Team Medicine Hat and Team Cypress County in Taber at this year’s games.

The registration deadline for athletes is Monday June 3th, 2013 at 4:00pm.

This year the games will take place from July 3-6th in Taber with 18 different events to choose from!

The events that athletes can participate in include:

5/10km Run Cycling Tennis
Athletics Equestrian Trapshooting
Badminton Golf Rugby
Ball hockey Handgun Cribbage
Baseball Mini Soccer  
Basketball 3 on 3 Photography  
Beach Volleyball Soccer  

Athletes from Medicine Hat who are interested in participating in the games can contact Allie Laurent by phone at (403) 502-8570 or email summergames@medicinehat.ca. Athletes from Cypress County and Redcliff can contact Cody Nicoll by phone at (403) 525-2315 or email codnic@cypress.ab.ca. We also welcome participants to drop by the Summer Games Office which is located in the Medicine Hat Arena or Cypress County Building.

Medicine Hat’s 2008 Alberta Summer Games will make an impact on ‘Hatters’ lives for decades to come as a result of a donation made today to the Community Foundation of Medicine Hat and Southeastern Alberta.

The Summer Games Society presented a cheque for nearly $142,000 to the Community Foundation today at the Family Leisure Centre to create the “Medicine Hat 2008 Alberta Summer Games Fund.” The money will be used to support sports and cultural activities within Southeastern Alberta.

Games Society vice chair Dr. Ken Sauer said he was thrilled to be forwarding this legacy onto the Foundation.

“We are very thankful that an organization like the Community Foundation is available to carry forward the legacy left by the 2008 Summer Games,” he said. THE JUMP – Read the rest of this entry »
