Payne’s Comments Backfire on Him

In an interview with the Medicine Hat News, Medicine Hat MP, LaVar Payne defended against Norm Boucher’s comments about him not doing anything for Medicine Hat.

Not only did he fail to defend himself, but the Medicine Hat News caught him in a lie regarding the Events Centre application.

    Payne tells CJCY News he never looked at the city’s application for Events Centre funding, but claims he was told by someone on council they originally applied for an “arena”, so the papers had to be re-submitted as “event centre”. “I’m not sure of the status of it, but that process does take some time,” says Payne.

    Documents shown to CJCY News show no sign of an “arena” application, but Payne says he was going off the word of a city official.”
