I figured having "Canada's Sunniest City!" on a Monopoly board would be excellent to bring in tourists - MORE SO THAN ANY ARENA.

The arena is so half n half it isn't even funny, people in same situations even have different opinions on it. I think people who like sports and go to the arena to see them are in favor, whereas people who have 0 use for it probably are thinking they'd rather see something else. This is my theory, anyway.

If that's true I no longer support it... $250,000 for Monopoly? This city has a spending problem... like seriously... It was all gravy when I thought it was free promotion.

I hear that our tourism contractors (Hideaway Studios) are behind this. This is what we get for a quarter million dollar contract?
"Hey let's get the citizens of Medicine Hat to vote in an online contest."

I've never not finished a game of monopoly unless I was drunk. You probably get ADHD because you start losing :P. It's not entirely chance at all although there is a large chance factor, the skill of knowing what to buy, sell, trade, etc. wins you games.

Being on a Monopoly board WILL boost tourism. Think about it, it's advertising, promotion and recognition in a non-traditional form so it's not instantly ignored. When players play the game, they need to say "Medicine Hat", see "Medicine Hat", and interact with "Medicine Hat". People won't plan cross-country tours, but they have a chance of stopping in.

Also, why do you say nobody wants a new arena when the vote was 5 to 4 (or 2 to 3 to 4) a plan of a plebiscite, huge debate on letters to the editor/ticked off and tickled pink and the almost 50% Yes/No poll on the Medicine Hat News.

Monopoly is a boring game that is entirely chance based and pretty much everyone who plays it gets ADHD before it ends. I don't get why Alderman John Hamill is dressing up like Rich Uncle Pennybags and the city is pushing to get Medicine Hat into it.

Being on a Monopoly board isn't going to boost tourism, although it probably would boost it more than a new arena that no one wants? Monopoly Patrons probably won't plan a cross-Canada tour to visit all chosen cities and drop a bunch of money into them.

The mayors of all the leading cities should just get together and play Monopoly to see who wins and gets the best property locations, except they would all get ADHD and call it before there was an actual winner.
