Community Foundation to Host “A Community Conversation” Breakfast
Medicine Hat residents will have an opportunity to gather and discuss the findings of Medicine Hat’s Vital Signs 2009 on Thursday, October 8th.
The Community Foundation of Medicine Hat and Southeastern Alberta presents “A Community Conversation” at Chinook Village’s Terrace Room from 7:00 – 8:30 AM on October 8th. The event will give area residents a chance to review and evaluate the findings of the report.
“Each year, Medicine Hat’s Vital Signs has spurred many conversations amongst residents about life in our city,” said Community Foundation executive director Mike Christie. “Our breakfast conversation is important because it leads to discussions that help shape the way the Community Foundation approaches the findings in the report.”
Medicine Hat’s Vital Signs will be issued for the third straight year by the Community Foundation on October 6th. The reports are mailed out to many residents but are also available in the office or online at www.medicinehatvitalsigns.ca.
Medicine Hat’s Vital Signs is an annual community check-up that measures the vitality of our community, identifies significant trends, and assigns grades in 12 areas critical to the quality of life in Medicine Hat. There are 16 Community Foundations across Canada releasing such reports on October 6th.
The October 8th breakfast will feature a three-member panel of residents who will discuss various aspects of the report. The panel will include Reagan Weeks, an elementary school vice principal and teacher; Randy Lehr, businessman/rancher; and Kay Olsen, consultant. All three are active community volunteers with wide-ranging local experience.
“Our panel members represent a wide cross-section of residents,” said Christie. “Their diversity will be sure to inspire audience members in their thoughts about the information contained in Vital Signs.”
The Vital Signs breakfast costs $15 per person and includes a breakfast buffet. Attendees must pre-register before October 7th by calling the Community Foundation office at 403-527-9038 or emailing jennifer@cfmh.ca.
