“It’s a lively, fun-loving, but nevertheless epic look at the nature of true love.” – Rita Kempley, The Washington Post

Welcome to the magical kingdom of Florin, the ultimate imaginary land, complete with dashing heroes, cowardly princes, rhyming giants, shrieking eels, rodents of unusual size, fancy swordfights, and yes…even some kissing. When the lovely Buttercup is kidnapped (and saved from an undesirable engagement to be married), she is pursued by a mysterious stranger in black who bears a striking resemblance to her true love Wesley, who she thought had died many years earlier. As Buttercup and her motley crew of captors make their way across the land, trying to evade the man in black, she comes to realize that courage, honour, heroism, friendship and love are just life’s little excuses to have a great adventure. A clever, satirical, and outrageously funny fairy tale for all ages, The Princess Bride is arguably one of the most entertaining films of all time.

The movie is rated PG for mild thematic elements.

People are reminded to bring a blanket or lawn chairs, as there is no fixed seating available in the park. Come early to get the best spot.

As with all of the films in the “Films Al Fresco” series, this event is being held as a fundraiser for the Monarch Theatre Revitalization Project, and admission is by donation.
